I’m working on a series of portraits on 3×5 index cards. Each portrait depicts a notable figure shortly before his/her death, drawn in a style which aims to confront our preconceived images of seemingly immortal celebrities.  UPDATE: John Wayne!

Sad old man I drew on a post-it note this evening.  He’d feel at home in 19th Century London, amidst the soot and broadsides. Afterwords, I realized he looks a little like M. Emmet Walsh.

King Kong Burns!

A slightly different entry in my ‘pre-postumous portrait’ series– but I couldn’t resist the brilliant suggestion of fellow monster-lover Justin Michael.  So here it is!  The King of the Apes himself, moments before he perished in the fire that destroyed much of the Universal Studios backlot two years ago.
